Trail Overview

The trail begins off FH1052. Enter through the gate and be sure to close it behind you. Head downhill to start. The trail is lined with classic Sonoran Desert vegetation, including creosote bush, firestick trees, ocotillo, and juniper. Narrow Trail follows a wash for portions of the route, with several slightly off-camber sections that may cause light pinstriping. You'll cross another wash and pass a spur trail--stay on the main route. This is primarily a connector trail leading to FH1048. The trail climbs out of the wash and has potential washouts and additional off-camber areas, especially after storms. About 1 mile in, you'll find a water tank, then drop into another wash crossing, followed by a climb back out. The next hill is scenic, lined with a Saguaro wall, red upright stacked rock formations, and prickly pear cactus. The trail makes a sharp right turn, descends another hill, and then climbs steeply out the other side. This hill can be washed out and rutted. While typically passable by high-clearance 2WD vehicles in dry conditions, the trail can become challenging in bad weather due to loose soil, washouts, and off-camber sections. You'll reach another gate--leave it as you found it, typically closed, and continue uphill to connect with FH1029.
