Trail Overview

This just over 3 mile trail (6 miles out and back) climbs over 250 feet and runs along a sand wash with mud walls. The surface is sandy wash with some small rocks and nice soft sand throughout. The route winds through lots of trees and brush, with some tight spots between trees and bushes that narrow your path. You'll encounter some deeper sand and some off-camber sections scattered along the way. The trail narrows in the last half mile as it approaches the border of the Yuma Proving Grounds, where it ends. Watch for wild mustangs and white-tailed deer in the area, as wildlife is common. There are lots of areas suitable for dispersed camping, though you should always be aware of the weather and potential flash floods when camping near the wash with its mud walls.

Difficulty

The deeper sand sections require Four Wheel Drive and good momentum management. Airing down is recommended for better traction. The off-camber sections and tight spots between vegetation demand careful navigation. The narrow last half mile requires attention. The main safety concern is flash flood potential, so always monitor weather conditions when running this wash trail.
