Trail Overview

Durham Wash is an excellent trail choice for those looking to escape the main road and venture into a more rugged adventure before reaching private property. This trail is primarily wide open, providing a spacious feel;however, you'll encounter areas with very soft sand, making careful driving essential. It's highly recommended to be consistent on the gas and maintain momentum while navigating these sandy stretches to avoid getting stuck. This wash often serves as a significant water flow area during the monsoon season, rendering the route hazardous. Therefore, if rain is on the horizon, entry into the washes here is not advisable, as sudden flash floods can occur. Beyond the more open sections, the trail narrows and becomes better suited for side-by-side ATVs and dirt bikes. Due to these conditions, full-sized vehicles are generally not recommended as you approach the trail's eastern end. Important Note: Cellular service can be inconsistent along Durham Wash, often fluctuating between two bars of LTE, so be sure to download your offline maps before you head out. Remember that the desert environment can be unforgiving--bring plenty of water and supplies, and ensure you are adequately prepared for your adventure. Enjoy your journey through Durham Wash!
