Trail Overview

Bird Pole is a short single track, but it has a steep climb that will be a good challenge for newer riders. It's less than half a mile long, connecting Backyard to a full-width road. It starts out by crossing a wash that is a mix of sand and bigger rocks, then starts climbing up a steep slope that is full of loose, round rocks and a bigger embedded rock face, which will be a good test of traction, and you want to keep your momentum up. It has a big ocotillo cactus sticking out into the trail that you have to maneuver around. It continues to sidehill around the edge of the hillside on the narrow singletrack, taking you up to the top of the hill where the trail ends.

Access Description

There are several dirt bike trails within the Laguna Hills trail system near Fortuna Foothills, Arizona. There isn't a formal staging area, but riders can access the trails through the system of roads north of the canal. There are a couple of parking and staging options. On the east side of the trail system, you can park at the west end of Adair Park Road and enter the trail system at the levee. There are several small camp spots along the canal on the levee road. On the northwest side of the trail system, you can also enter at the other levee (from South Laguna Dam Road), and you'll find easy dispersed camping here as well. You can also access this trail system from Mittry Lake, which is a popular spot for camping as well.
