Trail Overview

This 31-mile out-and-back trail takes you from the Cottonwood Bay Road up and down several washes of the Black Mountain Range. This is a very scenic trail that takes you through several different types of rock from Sandstone to Basaltic Lava Rock. There is a good chance of spotting a warren of burros along this trail. There is a steep section of the trail at approximately 7 miles which requires 4 Low to traverse.

Difficulty

This trail has several sandy washes with loose rocks up to 12 inches in height. There are washed-out portions of the road up to 12 inches in depth. Around 7 miles in there is a short section with steep climbs requiring 4 Low to climb.

Access Description

From Highway 93 take Cottonwood Road towards Cottonwood Bay. Turn right onto the west portion of the Klondike Loop Trail. This connects to the trail.
