Trail Overview
From the south end, this trail climbs out of a wash and hooks right on a narrow single track that rides atop the ridgeline of a small hill, flowing between saguaro cacti and big ocotillos. The beginning is fast, flowy, and gradual, but later, it has some steeper hill climbs and descents that are rutted and more difficult. There are lots of steep spots that are also very loose, which will be more challenging. You get really nice views of the rugged mountains and saguaro cactus from the top of the ridge lines. Be prepared for some shelfy side-hilling on the tops of the mountains and steep descents. There's a particularly rutted steep descent full of loose rocks that will be even more difficult in the opposite direction. It drops into narrow ravine crossings, often with steep drop-offs into them, and steep climbs back out of the ravines. There are often mini rock ledges from the embedded rock in the climbs. They aren't giant ledges, but they can trip you up when covered in gravel, and you already have to keep momentum because it's so steep. It ends on the north end when it drops down to a wide wash.
