Trail Overview

This mile-long dirt bike trail is full of steep climbs through a beautiful desert of saguaro cactus. It's wide like a two-track for the entire route. The climbs are rutted and super loose, covered in gravel, and get you up to a scenic ridge line overlooking these rugged mountains. The trail is constantly climbing up and descending back down over the steep hills. You have to keep momentum, but lots of riders will be spinning on the climbs. Watch for blind corners and exposed hillsides. Some of the climbs are shorter, but some are really long. It ends on a dirt road. Since this trail is partially on Arizona State Trust Land, it requires a recreation permit that you can obtain online.

Access Description

To access the Boulders OHV Area, take North Picacho Wash Road north from the West Carefree Highway. There is a huge staging area a mile up North Picacho Wash Road, with one pit toilet, a couple of picnic tables, and about 20 nice dispersed campsites for big rigs. There's a youth training area as well that is a fenced-off area for young or new riders to practice without cars nearby. This riding area gets very crowded on weekends. Most of the trails are unmarked, so a GPS map is extremely helpful here. Look out for wild burros.
