Trail Overview
Coming off the Canwell Glacier trail, the Heart Lake spur takes you to Red Rock Canyon and Heart Lake before heading up in elevation to an overlook bluff that looks out at Rainbow Ridge and the Delta River. The trail works its way through the thick brush through two water crossings, with the second being more technical, needing an awareness of depth and speed of the water to cross safely. If one of the crossings looks too deep, there are several others just a short walk away, further down the gravel-lined edges. This short trail offers incredible views and challenging terrain where airing down your tires is highly encouraged. With a ton of dispersed camping options, expect to see this valley have some other visitors in the summer months, especially around Heart Lake, as it is a very popular ATV destination.

Difficulty
This trail crosses two high current water crossings coming down from the mountains. While the water crossings are not deep if you choose the right line it can get deep quickly and the fast moving water combined with the steep entry to the water can create problems if you're not prepared. Backing up is not an option so once committed you need to drive through to turn around.
