Trail Overview

USFSR #540 - N.R. Hotel is a mountainside stroll that allows you to have a cliffside view of the deep valleys that the Talladega National Forest has to offer. This seasonal trail is only open 10/01-02/29, so if you get a chance during hunting season to wander through, make sure you take your opportunity. This trail is covered in leaf litter and hard-packed dirt. Make sure to keep your eyes on the trail to keep from veering off the trail for the long descent down.

Difficulty

This trail only has one light prominent rut, but it would not be suitable for a 2WD vehicle to pass through.

History

While there is little documentation on trail names, there is documentation of a Skyway Lodge that guests would stay at, similar to a bed and breakfast, from the mid 60s to the late 80s when it burnt down. It was well known for its southern-style pit cooking of steaks paired with beans and biscuits.
