Trail Overview
FS 700 sits within the Talladega National Forest, with the northern two-thirds of the route passing through the Oakmulgee Wildlife Management Area (WMA). Only street-legal, "plated" vehicles are allowed on this route. The southern entry is paved but transitions to dirt upon entering the Talladega National Forest. It's a smooth, hard-packed dirt road with small embedded gravel and well-graded drainage. Typically one vehicle wide with room to pass, the route meanders through a mixed-size forest of hard and softwood trees. The terrain consists of gentle curves and undulations, though some hills show limited erosion and minor wash-boarding. The primary landmark, located near the northern end, is the Union Baptist Church and its adjacent cemetery. Established in 1845, the site serves as a historical marker for early settlement in the region before the land became a managed forest. While cell service is generally decent, it can be inconsistent. There aren't any services for fuel or food within the forest, though convenience stores are available in surrounding towns. Centreville is approximately 15 miles to the east.

Difficulty
This is a smooth, well-maintained road with room to pass. It shouldn't present any problems for high-clearance 2WD vehicles.
History
The Union Baptist Church and cemetery were added to the Alabama Register of Historic Places on April 11, 1984. While the congregation was organized in 1845, the current rustic building is believed to date to the 1880s. The cemetery is the final resting place for many charter members, including the Rockett and Ware families, who donated the original land. Notable figures like Rev. Uriah Evans are buried here alongside numerous graves marked only by fieldstones, representing early settlers whose names are lost to time.
