Trail Overview
Teddy Bear cacti trail winds through a striking stretch of Baja desert where the terrain is as challenging as it is scenic. A dense forest of teddy bear cholla dominates the landscape, along with towering ocotillo, creosote bushes, and other hardy flora that give this trail a wild, raw character. The route is mostly sandy but peppered with hidden rocks and lined with deep ruts--remnants of offroad traffic and natural erosion. Tire placement matters here. The sand can lull you into speed, but those partially buried rocks will remind you to stay alert. As the trail climbs and dips across uneven terrain, it opens to impressive views of surrounding mountain ranges and occasional glimpses of the Sea of Cortez, especially on clearer days. It's a solid mid-level challenge that demands attention but rewards with raw desert beauty.
