Trail Overview
This scenic off-road loop begins about a mile from the San Fernando Loop, eventually connecting with another trail that leads to Playa San Ramon. Though the trail starts off looking smooth, it can be a bit bumpy due to previous race traffic, but it soon gives way to a light layer of sand and the smooth terrain of the salt flats. Before reaching Laguna Figueroa, you'll navigate a few silt fields with ruts and sandy whoops, where four-wheel drive is recommended. At one point, the trail intersects with a race route before diverging onto a less-traveled path, offering a silky-smooth ride along the Laguna. The area is rich in birdlife and provides access to excellent fishing spots along the ocean.

Difficulty
The only difficult section of this route is a half-mile stretch of sand, whoops, and shallow silt that may require 4WD. Be aware that parts of the Laguna are below sea level, and during unusually high tides, the area may become impassable, posing a risk of sinking if the ground is wet. If you have any concerns, it's essential to stop and assess the conditions before continuing.
