Trail Overview
Entering this trail from Highway 1, the route begins with a winding descent at a moderate grade, quickly revealing several campgrounds within the first one to two miles--popular among travelers who run out of daylight en route to La Paz. The road is scenic and not particularly technical; an experienced driver in a 2WD vehicle can navigate it, though 4WD is recommended due to its remoteness and occasional rugged sections. Midway through, the terrain shifts to a striking white plateau before descending via a short series of tight, shelf-road corners. After this, the trail drops into a shallow arroyo before transitioning to a flat, soft stretch that extends for two to three miles. As you near the coast, the road remains mostly smooth, with occasional washboard sections. Within a couple of miles, stunning ocean views emerge, and once at the shoreline, campsites are abundant in either direction, spaced roughly a quarter-mile apart. However, caution is advised when venturing onto beaches or crossing arroyos--without 4WD, you risk getting stuck; even with it, airing down your tires is essential for safe passage.

Difficulty
Although this trail is rated a 2, caution is still necessary due to occasional shelf roads and exposed sections. Proper vehicle placement is crucial in these areas, but overall, the route remains fairly straightforward in dry conditions.
