Trail Overview

Trail 551 starts off of FS 10019 at a trail marker and starts traversing across a hillside covered in sagebrush. The trail is rutted in spots, with 1-2 foot deep ruts often running on one side of the trail, where you are constantly crossing over to avoid the ruts. ATVs can easily straddle the ruts, but you need to watch out for sudden dips across the trail. The trail parallels a creek and a beautiful meadow, riding through young aspen trees, and rides over several waterbars. The trail crosses a small stream next to some irrigation tubing and curves right. It makes a couple of wide and easy hairpin turns, then gradually climbs up a shelf road as it continues south. At the end, it rides across a hilltop covered in sagebrush, overlooking the rolling hills, on a straight and fast two-track that is easy and smooth. After 2 miles, it ends on another forest service road at an unmarked entrance.
