Trail Overview
Spears Trail is a unique and scenic bidirectional trail within the Gregory State Game Area, right off the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. Located directly off Cedar Lake Road, this trail is easily accessible. Starting from the eastern end, you'll start out on a gravel and dirt road. This trail quickly transitions into a thick section of trees with lush vegetation edging the trail. As you continue down the trail, you'll twist and turn and have many sports that are open to the public for hunting. Sheets Lake is towards the end of this trail, so be sure to take it all in and TREAD LIGHTLY so future generations can enjoy these public spaces. Also, keep your eyes open for wildlife! This trail will surely keep you entertained. There are a few places along the trail that give you insight into the Huron River Watershed, Honey Creek. Like most of Michigan's offroad trails, conditions are dependent on the weather. Recent rainfall can cause unfavorable conditions on the trail, including downed trees, mud holes, and washouts. Come Prepared! This is not a difficult trail at all, but it contains a lot of beauty and excitement. This trail also gives access to other great trails nearby. The eastern end of the trail finishes at Gregory Road. Regardless of the conditions of this trail, it's a great route to check out! As always, PLEASE TREAD LIGHTLY and be respectful of our public lands so future generations can have access to these trails!
