Trail Overview

Four Mile Falls, Four Mile Lake and Anderson trails are north on Four Mile road out of Pagosa Springs. These are very popular trails since they are so close to Pagosa Springs and traverse part of the Weminuche Wilderness. The road itself is part of a beautiful scenic loop drive when combined with Plumtaw, McManus and Piedra roads. Four Mile road is easily accessible out of Pagosa, by turning north on 5th street off of Hwy 160. When you reach the end of the road there will be two parking lots, the first with the vault toilet is for horse riders with their trailers, the second parking area is for hikers. Information regarding the hiking trails is located at the trailhead. The Four Mile Falls trail (#569) is a relatively easy trail of about 3.5-4 miles. The Anderson trail (#579) is also located here. It is an 8-mile hike that connects with the Four Mile trail after hiking up the switchbacks that climb some of the east-southeast face of Pagosa Peak. Be aware that early summer snowmelt may make stream crossings impassable.
