Trail Overview
Swift Creek Road runs along the boundary of the Carolina Sandhills National Wildlife Refuge. The road surface was mostly sandy and light-colored, with some loose sand, pine needles, and small debris along the edges. The route offers wide open views of long sand roads, pine forest, and big sky. There were also nice points of interest, including a quiet wetland/pond area with reflections and surrounding trees. One important note is that vehicle access into the refuge area was not allowed; the gate remained closed the entire time. Visitors should expect sandy conditions and should respect the closed gate and access restrictions.
