Tick Hollow (FS 423A), also known as Perkins Ridge Spur, is a semi-maintained gravel forest service road within the Willow Springs Unit of Mark Twain National Forest. The Tick Hollow road begins as the northern offshoot from the Perkins Ridge FS 423, turning northward, going down a short hill, up to the first turn, where the track re-orients going westward, having some great views of the hills to the north along US-60 at this bend, to slowly drop over the remainder of the track towards it final destination of the power line tract, with view to the south of the end of Perkins Ridge, and to the north towards the Middle Ridge. The end of the MVUM-sanctioned road is marked by the power line tract; users must turn around and head back the way they entered.

Difficulty
Tick Hollow is given a base rating of 1/10, having mild forms of erosion along the mildly graded hills, with some spots having the gravel fading completely to dirt, creating potential surface mud. It is safe to expect the typical gravel-road complications of potholes, washboards, and mounding of the gravel. Difficulty could increase during heavy use, wet conditions, or severe lack of maintenance.
