Trail Overview
Simonsville Road offers a picturesque 8.5-mile trek through the Texas Hill Country, located just off State Highway 87 near Mason. This scenic backroad is not technically challenging under dry conditions, making it an ideal choice for a relaxing drive. The route features two notable low-water crossings at Beaver Creek and the Llano River; while these provide great views, they can become impassable during wet weather. Keep an eye on local rainfall before heading out, as the Llano River crossing is the highlight of the trip, offering a beautiful perspective of one of the region's most iconic rivers. Remember to stay on the road, as the land on each side of the road is private property. Caution is advised because you may encounter grazing cattle and other wildlife along the road.
