Trail Overview
This relatively flat 3-mile trail (6 miles out-and-back) starts and returns to EC1146. The surface is hard-packed sand that weaves through creosote bushes before eventually dropping into a small wash with fine sand. The route goes in and out of small washes with lots of uneven surfaces and some off-camber sections scattered throughout. You'll encounter some sections with slightly larger rocks to maneuver around as you navigate the changing terrain. The wash can get narrow at times, creating tight quarters. There are lots of sections with tight trees and low-hanging trees that require careful attention to avoid vehicle damage. Be on the lookout for wild burros and white-tailed deer that frequent the area. The trail disappears after the wash, making navigation challenging in the final section.

Difficulty
The transition from hard pack to mostly soft sand requires four wheel drive, and airing down is highly recommended for maintaining traction. The hill climbs with off-camber sections demand careful navigation and throttle control. The ridgeline sections require respect for the exposure. The soft sand combined with hill climbs makes this more technical than typical flat desert routes.
