Trail Overview
This one vehicle-wide loose sand route threads through terrain surrounded by creosote bushes, Joshua trees, other desert flora, and seasonally blooming wildflowers. The trail is prettiest traveling south to north for optimal scenery appreciation. Beautiful views unfold of the Eastern Sierras and the El Paso Wilderness Mountains across Highway 14. Climbing up and down medium-sized hills creates rhythm, while established campsites and an old remnant of a stone cabin provide historical interest. You'll encounter whoops, off-camber sections, ruts, and deeper sand sections throughout, with a few rock and washboard sections adding variety. This trail will test your suspension system with its accumulated features.

Difficulty
The loose sand requires momentum management, with deeper sand sections demanding particular attention. Whoops, off-camber sections, and ruts combine to create that suspension-testing experience as claimed. High clearance vehicles become highly recommended for navigating the varied obstacles comfortably. The few rock and washboard sections add texture. Climbing up and down medium-sized hills adds elevation changes without respite. Four wheel drive handles the loose sand, while good suspension travel manages the whoops and ruts, testing your system.
