Trail Overview

East Sunrise Road - FS 2683 is a there-and-back style trail which can be found at its intersection with FS 2319 at 45.2177, -88.41614. This trail is a moderately narrow two-track trail, with dense forest surrounding most of it. The trail surface is primarily packed dirt and loose sand; there are small elevation changes that the trail experiences, as well as moderate winding corners. The trail has some room on either side of it, but in most cases, not enough to pull off to allow for a vehicle to pass. Several areas along the trail can be used to pull off and allow for vehicle passage, or additionally be used for dispersed camping. As this trail navigates south and approaches Hagar Mountain, it will start to become very steep, with remote rock sections located on either side of the trail. There is a large turnaround/ parking area located at the end of the trail that serves as the starting point for the beginning of the hiking trail for Hagar Mountain. he trail is being navigated. This trail is also open to ATV/ SxS traffic. Cell service in this area is acceptable for the most part; however, downloaded maps are never a bad idea since the towers in this area can become crowded from summer tourists, leading to slow service. Most forest roads in this area have some amount of snowmobile trail traffic on them in the winter months. It is best to avoid or do plenty of research beforehand when there is snow on the ground.

Difficulty

This trail can be easily navigated by riders of any experience level. After heavy rain, washouts and soft spots in the trail can be expected. Additionally, there is always the chance of debris washing onto the trail from the surrounding hills or falling onto the trail from the surrounding trees. The trail has okay to good sight lines throughout, and the trail width changes several times in several areas where it would be hard for vehicles to pass each other at speed.
