Trail Overview
Jump Off Joe is a butte in the Horse Heaven Hills south of Kennewick, Washington, and is visible throughout much of the region. The roads leading up are public roads, but are primitive with no warning signs, and can be steep with sudden, sharp turns. It's a rather scenic drive through a portion of the Horse Heaven Hills and surrounding farmland. At the top, you'll be rewarded with nearly 360-degree views of Tri-Cities, Washington, and Umatilla, Oregon. On a clear day, you can see Mount Hood, Mount Adams, and Mount Rainier from the top. There's plenty of room for multiple vehicles to park or turn around at the top. Stick to the large gravel parking area up top - the buildings and towers within the fenced areas are private property. All windmill spur access roads are private property and many are monitored by camera. Windmills are dangerous and should not be approached; ice thrown from wind turbines can cause major concern and damage. Please admire these from the main roads.
