Trail Overview
Peas Hollow (FS 421) is a semi-maintained gravel Forest Service road within the Willow Springs Unit of Mark Twain National Forest. Peas Hollow logistically begins at South Route 181, heading westward into the forest featuring mild elevation changes, using the spines of the ridge tops as stepping stones along its track, passing a few small natural ponds, amongst whispering pines and oaks. Along the western end of the track, to the south, there are great views of two peaks, Big Yeoman and Cedar Knob. The road concludes at a lower-elevation valley, with the MVUM-sanctioned end point marked by a dead-end opening where users can easily turn around and head back out the way they entered.

Difficulty
Peas Hollow is given a base rating of 1/10, being a gentle ridge-top road with only mild elevation changes going up and down the spines, and it is safe to expect the typical gravel-road complications of potholes, washboards, and mounding of the gravel, with occasional washes of the gravel, with the surface showing bare dirt or surface mud. Difficulty could increase during heavy use, wet conditions, or severe lack of maintenance.
History
On the weekend of March 21st, 2026, OnX Offroad partnered with local organizations, Rallye In The Ozarks, Heartland Trail Trash, and Critter's Clean Up and Cruise, to host an OnX Offroad Trail Revival Project, to remove 3 large illegal tire dumps, and conduct an additional litter pick-up. The results were impressive, yielding 348 tires and 3000lbs of trash (including an ice chest, 4 couches, and a variety of small litter) being removed from the Mark Twain National Forest in that singular day.
