Trail Overview
New Road trailhead starts along the paved section of River Road and cuts a swath across Post Road and Concrete Bridge Road before ending at Ole Hell Road on the north end. The trail bed is packed dirt on the southern end with a grassy surface on the northern reaches. The trail winds its way through large stands of southern pine and scrub, giving cover to the game in the area that includes deer, turkey, and wild pigs, along with a variety of small game. There are several shallow mudholes along the trail, but they should only pose a problem for low-clearance two-wheel drive vehicles in wet weather conditions. New Road trail is entirely within the Penholoway Swamp WMA, and a valid Georgia Hunting or Fishing license is required to access the trail.
