Trail Overview
Traveling between Old Forge Road and Snowy Mountain Road, Swift Run Road offers a scenic backwoods route through Michaux's rugged heart. This gravel forest road passes key trailheads, including the Climbing Rock Trail, and provides access to the well-known climbing destination Shaffer Rocks--a popular spot for bouldering and top-roping just steps off the Appalachian Trail. Nestled nearby is the Hermitage Cabin, a rustic PATC-maintained shelter available for overnight stays (reserve through the PA DCNR or PATC site). Whether you're driving through, hiking the connecting trails, or scouting rock faces, Swift Run Road is a quiet corridor rich with forest beauty, outdoor access, and adventure potential.
