IR 54

Trail Overview

Trail 54 is a 1.2-mile route that begins at the north entrance near Trail 71 and descends through a series of tight switchbacks. While the turns have a small shoulder for maneuvering, they remain tight, and the segments between them are steep with minor loose rock. The trail includes shelfy sections along the hillside and is surfaced with black coal dirt. After the switchbacks, it continues west on a smooth, easy path, passing the intersection with Trail 60 before ending at Trail 52. Apart from the switchbacks, the route is easy, but should still be manageable for riders of most skill levels.

Difficulty

This trail has some slightly more technical switchbacks due to being tight and steep, but in general is mostly easy. Note that this is considered More Difficult by Hatfield McCoy's rating system.
