IB 97

Trail Overview

IB 97 is an advanced trail featuring an extremely steep ascent (from north to south) up a hillside with a loose, rutted, rocky surface and embedded rock. It includes a tight switchback, scattered downed logs, and low-hanging branches. The climb becomes even steeper with deep ruts and large flat rocks filling the rutted path. The steep grade plus slick, greasy dirt--especially after rain--can make the trail impassable in wet conditions. After the rock piles at the steepest point, the trail has really deep ruts, and then eventually levels out at the top.

This is a highly advanced trail with an extremely steep grade, deep ruts, and rocky features. Roll-Over Protective Structures are required. This is considered Extreme by Hatfield McCoy's rating system.
