Trail Overview

BM 172 is an extremely technical single-track recommended only for the most advanced dirt bikers, particularly in wet conditions. The west end begins at a gate, entering a lush, dense forest along a scenic hillside with mossy rock walls. The initial section is deceptively smooth but includes slick leaf decay, stick debris, muddy ruts, and a slippery pipeline crossing the trail several times that must be approached straight on or risk wiping out. Riders must navigate a narrow rock pinch over a massive boulder, tight tree gaps, awkwardly hanging downed logs, and increasingly difficult slick root-and-rock obstacles. A major feature is a large, moss-covered rock garden where traction is minimal even in dry conditions. The trail continues with narrow side-hilling and multiple highly technical off-camber boulder pinches, requiring precise skill from those willing to give this highly demanding trail a try.
