Trail Overview

Motherload is an ATV trail in the Sovereign Trail System open to vehicles 52 inches or less. The south end starts at a pinch point off Jeep Road 142, which can be accessed from Dalton Wells Road. It rides through a desert landscape with red slickrock and moderate slab obstacles that are like big ramps up and down. It transitions between slab and sand and dirt and back with several slab ledges in between as it winds through the bushes. Look for the white paint on the slab rock. It passes the intersection for the Motherload ATV Access Trail about halfway through. At the north end, it comes to an intersection with the Sovereign Singletrack that heads east, and the ATV trail continues west. The north entrance to the trail is marked as the Sovereign ATV loop.

Access Description

The Sovereign Trails Area is an extensive trail system north of Moab with several single tracks and ATV trails, mostly of intermediate or advanced difficulty. The system is most easily accessed off of Willow Springs Road or Dalton Wells Road. Most of the trail system can be ridden over the course of a couple days. You'll likely share the trails with mountain bikers. The trails are best in spring, fall, and winter, as the area is extremely hot in the summer.
