Trail Overview

This trail connects Hog Canyon Trail BLM HC1 and Hog Canyon BLM HC5 - Tom's Trail with the Mansard Trail BLM 104. You move generally northeast on deep sandy trails through the pinion pines. There is a little bit of slick rock to climb, but it's easy. The views are magnificent in this area of Southern Utah from Hog Canyon all the way over to Johnson Canyon Road. And there are multiple trails along this track that go off either side of the trail, so opportunities to explore are plentiful. You can hike to overlook spots above the canyons, or you can hike to one of the springs in this area. This is a popular area for off-roaders during the spring, summer and fall, so be sure to watch for oncoming traffic. We rode it in late April, and we had no mud to contend with. A fun trail for venturing over the top in this vast BLM acreage. In February of 2023 Utah began enforcement of a new law, which requires an online education course for all off-roaders. The free course is available online. Google "Utah OHV Education Course," and the free test will pop up. It's an easy test that will only take 15-30 minutes, and it's required for all off-roaders, Jeeps, SXSs, dirt bikes, and ATVs. Kids under the age of 18 will have to take the Youth Education Test at the same site. After completing the test, print out the certificate to carry with you which shows you completed the course. We have taken it, and it's really no big deal. Good reminders about trail etiquette and trail preservation.
