Trail Overview
Perched high above the desert floor, this short but rewarding hard-packed dirt and rocky trail leads to a spectacular mesa overlook. From the edge, you'll get a bird's-eye view of Southern Utah's "geological staircase," including Sand Hollow, Fort Pierce, the Arizona Strip, and the towering heights of Gooseberry and Kolob. Accessible directly off the Little Creek Mesa trail, the terrain is a classic mix of hard-packed dirt, sand, and slickrock. It's a quick off-the-main-trail journey, but it serves as the perfect introduction to the Little Creek area's vast network of scenic overlooks. Wanting to understand the layout of Southern Utah, the view from this "Third Mesa" offers an immense 360-degree panoramic map come to life. The horizon opens up to reveal the jagged beauty of the Arizona Strip and the distant, rugged peaks of Kolob. It's a connector trail that feels like the Edge of the World, maybe that's why the west point dead end was named that.
