Trail Overview

Diana's Throne Trail (BLM 106V) is an intensely challenging, 0.7-mile backcountry route that delivers a highly technical, adrenaline-pumping experience for advanced off-road explorers. Surrounded by sweeping views of the majestic, towering stone cliffs, the journey immediately commands your attention as it begins with a dramatically steep series of loose, shifting sand tracks and jagged sandstone rock drops. This demanding descent carefully guides vehicles down into the bottom of a rugged desert wash. After successfully navigating the deeply carved canyon floor, the trail aggressively forces drivers to climb back out. This demanding exit requires conquering a daunting series of uneven, exceptionally off-camber sandstone steps that heavily test both driver skill and vehicle capability. Once past these formidable rock obstacles, the short but distinctly punishing transit gracefully levels out to connect directly to the adjacent BLM 110 route.

Diana's Throne Trail definitely earns a formidable Level 6 Advanced technical rating. The brief 0.7-mile route requires navigating a severely steep, loose sandy descent followed immediately by a rigorous, high-consequence climb back out of the wash. To successfully power up the deeply rutted, severely off-camber sandstone ledges without rolling or sustaining catastrophic mechanical damage, a highly capable vehicle is strictly mandatory. Drivers absolutely must utilize a high-clearance 4x4 equipped with lowered tire air pressures and engaging locking differentials to safely maintain traction over the uneven rock steps. Standard AWD crossovers and stock 4x4s without lockers will fail on this route.
