Trail Overview
The Aspen Flat Trail No. 018 is 5.7 miles long and features a mix of tight off-camber, rocky singletrack deep in the forest, surrounded by aspens, along with sections of the flowy terrain we all love. With views for miles, meadows, and stream crossings, this trail is a classic. The south end of the trail is located off Forest Road 381, a small spur off of Indian Creek Road (FR 50079). The north end can be accessed from Shay Ridge (FR 50104). From the south, the trail climbs quickly through rocks and tree roots, so be ready. In the early season, you will encounter many downed trees, so plan accordingly. Many trail loops can be created using this trail and other nearby trails, including Red Ledges Trail No. 019, Red Ledges Access Trail No. 160, Robertson Pasture Trail No. 020, and Shay Ridge No. 162. To complete these loops, Indian Creek Road (FR 50079) and Jackson Ridge (FR 50354) are also utilized. Please be respectful of private property and ensure that gates are left as you found them. This area is sensitive and closely monitored, so it's important to stay on designated trails. Note that bike and motorcycle access is restricted from October 1 to May 1.
