Merus 101

Trail Overview

Merus 101 is a 4.5-mile trail that runs most of the length of Merus Adventure Park. Starting with a breathtaking drop into the canyon at the "Drop-In), Merus 101 winds its way through the geological history of Palo Duro Canyon. Clearly present are the signs of the destructive power of nature that created the canyon over thousands of years. The trail has plenty of short ledges and steep, short climbs and drops as it crosses the Salt Fork Creek multiple times. After a rain, the trail can be slick and the creek crossings wet or muddy.

Difficulty

Merus 101 is famous for the "Drop-In." A steep (21-degree), rock/sand/gravel path that is the gateway to the canyon floor. The Drop-In will get your heart pumping for both the steep grade and the breathtaking views on the way down. The rest of the trail is full of short, steep climbs and tight, rocky steeps that will give your suspension a workout.
