Trail Overview

This route will take you on a journey through the mountains to the upper parking lot area, near the refurbished fire tower. Once at the parking area, it is a 20-45 minute hike to the fire tower depending on the route you take. The fire tower offers spectacular views of the surrounding mountains. This forest service road is in decent shape but you will encounter an array of potholes that can be jarring if carrying too much speed. There are a few muddy spots and narrow road areas that could be potentially dangerous. There is an ATV/OHV crossover at the top of the mountain near the end of the trail, be cautious in this area as some riders don't yield. Cell service is spotty but available near the top of the mountain/fire tower area. There are a few spur trails that can be explored throughout the journey. The trail is closed in the winter months.

First off road shake test for this rig, got up and down the mountain pretty easily, no traffic up or down, minimal water and ruts.

Buffalo mountain fire tower climb was a great get out and hike up towards the fire tower with the family. The trail is simple with occasional potholes filled with water and the occasional stone in the way which both of those can be avoided with good placement of your car. Pretty drive through trees and on up where you can look out at the mountains there is one muddy spot about 3 quarters up but a 2wd should be able to make it with good placement. plenty of parking space up top and a steep hike up the tower that is well worth it.
