Trail Overview
Musterground Road is an out-and-back moderately challenging gravel road that explores the western area of the Jocassee Gorges and Lake Jocassee. Managed by Duke Energy, the road is open to motorized vehicles from September 15 through January 2 and March 20th through the end of April. The surface is a mixture of dirt and gravel with significant grades, rough sections, and steep inclines. High-clearance 4x4 vehicles and adventure-style motorcycles will do well, but low clearance and standard-drive vehicles will not do well. The first half of the road parallels Lake Jocassee and provides participants with several overlooks and opportunities to view an amazing man-made lake situated in the mountains.
