Trail Overview

Stony Run Road is a Maintained dirt/gravel road that is easily navigated by just about any vehicle. There is no winter maintenance in the forest, however. There can be some washboard sections. It is a scenic road with streams and areas of evergreens to keep that lush forest look even in the winter. Along the road, you will find trailheads for hiking. There are also two "drivable trails" along the road, Sharpback Hollow Road (formerly Negro Hollow Road) and Bartley Gap Trail. The road can be accessed from Old Turnpike Road (Rt 45) or from these forest roads: Sheesley Run Road, Buffalo Flat Road, Winkleblech Mountain Road, Pine Creek Hollow Road, and Stover Gap Road.
