Trail Overview
The Sheffield Tower Trail is an easy, almost 3-mile trail that stays on top of a ridge for the most part. The trail ends at a couple of gates, but it is worth running to the end, as it ends in a beautiful stand of Eastern Hemlock trees, which are Pennsylvania's state tree. About three-quarters of the way out is the walking trailhead for Hector Falls. It is definitely worth the 1.1-mile walk down to the falls. Be advised that there is a few hundred feet of elevation change down to the falls. Of course, that means that you have to climb back up to the trailhead. It is certainly not a hard hike, but be prepared with a bottle of water at least and some appropriate footwear. With a trail name like Sheffield Tower, one might think that there is a fire tower on this trail, but there is not that I know of.
