Trail Overview
Another scenic gravel forest road in Sproul State Forest. It hugs Sandy Run for most of its length. There are two dispersed motorized campsites, reservations required via Reserve America, near the north end. There are also several hunting camps/cabins along the way. It stays in the valley until Hensel Fork Road where it climbs back up the mountain. Hensel Fork Road permits ATV and from here to Boone Road, ATV are permitted on Sandy Run Road. The trail drops back down as it comes south down to PA 144 and closely hugs the Sandy Run here. Put the windows down so you can hear the babbling brook. Expect to see deer and other wildlife along the way.
