Trail Overview
Forest Service Road 312 in the Allegheny National Forest is a designated accessible road for high-clearance vehicles only that is open all year long. The surface is packed dirt with a few potholes. There are plenty of tree branches along this route. You cross over a nice mountain stream, which feeds a small swimming hole. There are large boulders along the hills. Halfway along this route is a nice Dispersed Camping spot, and also a place to park and camp at the end of this route. A video showing the road conditions can be found here: https://youtu.be/uqPG5Z3ESok?si=X5dUD7_cnIIiPt8p. Accessibility: Like many forest roads, its condition can vary, and it is best to check the Allegheny National Forest Motor Vehicle Use Map (MVUM) for the latest information on its status. Conditions are also subject to weather and seasonal changes.
