Trail Overview
Carbaugh Road is a short but significant connector between District Road and Newman Road, winding through a mix of public forest and private land--please be respectful of residents and any posted boundaries. Along this gravel byway, you'll find direct access to the Carbaugh Reservoir, a serene spot favored for fishing, birding, and lakeside respite. The road also skirts the edge of the Carbaugh Run Natural Area, an ecologically important 780-acre zone protecting amphibian habitats and Native American rhyolite quarry sites. Though brief, Carbaugh Road opens up access to broader Michaux trails, primitive camping spots, and downhill multi-use corridors that branch off into the forest. It's a peaceful drive or ride with subtle charm--just mind private property signs and tread lightly so landowners and the forest can coexist harmoniously.
