Trail Overview

This road exists to provide access to State Game Lands 110 and the Bartram Trail. It is a beautiful drive down a rugged gravel road through the forest and across a mountain stream to a very remote area of Schuylkill County. There is a large parking lot at the end of the road. Don't be scared by the myriad of posted signs at the entrance. Stay on the gravel road, and you are not trespassing. There is generally no winter maintenance, and the road is prone to potholes and washouts.

History

The John Bartram Trail (aka Bartram Trail) is just one section of the very involved Schuylkill River Trail (SRT). Evolving from the Schuylkill River Greenway, the SRT is being developed in disconnected sections as funds and capacity permit. Currently, just 9.6 miles of the Bartram Trail are open.
