Trail Overview
Dutch John is one of the harder trails within the Uwarrie National Forest, part of the "Dirty Ds" in Uwharrie. It offers a variety of obstacles ranging from rolling humps to small stream crossings and a couple of technical hill climbs and descents. The trail can be done on dirt bikes, ATVs, and other off-roading vehicles, although high ground clearance is required. Along the trail leading to and from the main climbs are optional obstacles. These do have bypasses, but the main climbs do not. When the trail is wet, it can offer a challenge for everyone; when dry, it provides enough of a challenge for advanced drivers while still being low risk for the new adventurers.
