Vacant Lot Trail

Trail Overview

This trail leads you to a lake at the end, where the old Shawanga Lodge used to stand. I didn't see any "no motorized vehicles beyond this point" or "no trespassing" signs until the end of the trail, where you hit a locked gate where the private property begins. Not much room at the end to turn around, so be mindful of the rig. The Wurtsboro Ridge SF Long Path does parallel this trail; be mindful that you don't drive on that.

Difficulty

Not difficult to travel except getting on the trail from Mamakating Road, where water runoff has carved the ditch. Keep an eye out for the old downed trees that used to run to the lodge.
