Trail Overview

Pipeline Public Forest Access Road is a gravel road maintained by the DEC that is used as a snowmobile trail in the winter months. However, if there is no snow, it is open for off-road vehicles. There are plenty of opportunities for hiking and brook trout fishing in the numerous small streams in the area. The Finger Lakes hiking trail runs through this area.

Difficulty

Some steep grades exist on this road, which can be challenging in a 2WD vehicle. The trail is thin in spots with nowhere to pull over to let others pass, so keep your eyes forward on any of the downhill sections. Remember that vehicles coming up have the right of way.

Definitely don’t think that it lives up to the 4-5/10 rating, but it was definitely an alright ride. I went a day or two after decent rain, but it had a bit of time to dry up. I did not really see much of a challenge if I am being honest, and I think it was more of a leisurely off road cruise. If you are in the area and are looking for something more technical, I would recommend stopping by the trails just to the west off of Page Green Road. There are some trails that follow the power lines and I think those are definitely worth the trip if you are in the area.
