Trail Overview

An offshoot of Texas Road in Beartown State Forest, this is a seasonally maintained NYDEC Trail. During the summer and fall months, enjoy a breathtaking view of the changing leaves, deer, and other joys of nature, on an easy dirt/gravel road. During the winter months, this becomes a great snow wheeling ride through the forest, with the occasional sighting of deer through the trees, or maybe a fox if you get lucky. Keep in mind this trail is for snowmobiles and wheeled vehicles only, no ATV/SXS, etc. This is best done in conjunction with Texas Road and Beartown Road traveling from North to South. At the end, stop at the power line opening and enjoy the views of snow on the ground, or watch for deer running across the opening. DO NOT leave the trail at any point as the official New York Snowmobile Corridor leaves the trail at the power line. Don't mess it up for people during the winter. During the summer 2x4 will be just fine, but during the muddy season, and especially during the winter months, 4x4 will be required to get through.

Difficulty

This is a dirt and gravel road with the occasional Mud puddle to ride through. There is a large mud hole at the power line opening, but be aware that you can sink pretty deep if you take the wrong line. The difficulty of this trail is higher in the winter season.
