Trail Overview

Cyclone Road starts at Big Sugar Creek and County Road SE E59 or Creekside Road at Creekside Campground. This follows the shuttle route if you're floating Big Sugar Creek to Cyclone. Warning: the floating takeout at Cyclone can be very dangerous and only experienced paddlers should float this section of Big Sugar Creek. The road is mostly loose gravel and hardpacked dirt that follows the bluffs of Big Sugar Creek with a few climbs that allow views of the river below in the wintertime and spring. There are a couple of water crossings along this route; one has a gauge depth reference with constant flowing water.
