Two Mile Road - Thayer North Road

Trail Overview

Two Mile Road, Thayer North Road is located in Ontonagon and Gogebic Counties, Michigan. This trail runs from its northern start point at the end of the paved section of Sleepy Hollow Road, Two Mile Road (46.39605, -89.28552), the trail travels southwest to its southern intersection with Old US 2 West. This trail is a Forest Road that is open to all vehicle types. Like other National Forest roads in the area, this trail is well-maintained and easy to navigate for all. It can be used to quickly reach other trails in the area, such as Trail SI, and FDR 6930. There are countless other dead-end trails located off Two Mile Road, Thayer North Road. The terrain on this trail is hard-packed gravel, with long sweeping corners, and rolling hills as it navigates through mature forests. This trail is very wide with excellent sight lines throughout. Located at the southern end of this trail is the walking trail to Kakabika Falls.

Difficulty

This trail can be completed by any 4WD vehicle, as well as properly equipped 2WD vehicles. The trail's surface is a hard-packed gravel that allows for excellent, smooth, and high traction navigating. The trail itself is very wide with large cleared runoffs on either side for most of the trail's length. There are some sections that are narrow due to overgrown swamp foliage on either side of the trail. Sight lines are excellent throughout this entire trail. The trail does not have any hard obstacles. After recent rain, there can be some shallow water spots that develop. These can easily be avoided or crossed thanks to the trail's tough base.
