Trail Overview

This is Trail P, Fdr 502. This trail is located in Ontonagon County, Michigan, northeast of the town of Bergland. Trail P runs from its intersection with Trail SB Bergland to its intersection with FDR 400 Bergland. This trail travels through a very dense forest within the Ottawa National Forest. The scenery along the trail consists mainly of mature hardwoods, with occasional pine trees. The thick forests limit sight lines, as well as daylight on the trail. The terrain is rolling hills, with some long sweeping corners, as well as some tight hairpins. The trail surface is hard pack dirt/ gravel, creating a very smooth and easy riding trail. This also means that few obstacles need to be traversed on this trail. Between miles 4-6, headed north on this trail, paths can be seen that provide access to the hill/ bluff side that overlooks the surrounding areas.

Difficulty

This trail can be completed by riders of all experience levels. The trail surface creates a very forgiving environment for newer or inexperienced riders. Additionally, the trail is well signed, allowing for easy navigation. This trail, however, does have some narrow sections, as well as many blind corners. These areas should be approached at a slower speed to avoid any potential accidents. The trail is width-restricted to SxS under 65 inches, but most machines this size will need to slow down in order to pass each other safely. The trail is well-maintained and has very few to no obstacles that need to be avoided, depending on the time of year. After frequent rain, there can be mud holes that start to develop in some sections of the trail.
